40: More than stretching: How yoga can reduce stress with Kristen Boyle
Today I'm joined by Kristen Boyle, an internationally certified yoga therapist, somatic coach, single mom, and entrepreneur who shares with us how we can use yoga therapy and the Embodied Living Practice to avoid burnout and thrive in life.
She started teaching yoga when she went through a nasty divorce from a dysfunctional relationship. Realizing that yoga's practice was supporting and sustaining her through her trials, she decided to take up yoga therapy as a practitioner. Kristen's goal is to show others how to bring the body into the full conversation of our well-being.
"The mind and body are incredibly integrated. The more attuned to the signals of the body we have become, we can use this to guide us and our choices." She finds that we are used to not paying attention or understanding our bodies. Kristen shows others how they can connect with the deeper layers that are missing.
Kristen talks about how we live in a world of overwhelm that leads to burnout, why we are unconscious about receiving signals our bodies are giving us, and when we are in a state of overwhelm, why it's hard to see how we can bring ourselves back into a state of balance.
