16: Want to Feel Less Overwhelmed? Learn to say no!
In this episode, I'll talk about how to find the confidence to say "No!" and how being afraid to hurt someone's feelings, or being afraid to look bad may be burning you out.
Recently I said “yes” to a work project that I didn’t want. As soon as I said yes, I felt bad about agreeing to the project, and as the deadline got closer I started to dread the assignment.
Do you find that you take on too much? Are you often feeling overwhelmed, burnt out, or there isn't enough time? Do you find yourself agreeing to tasks you honestly don't want to do? You know just like I did almost as soon as you said yes, that you should have said no, but you say yes anyway!
The struggle to say no comes from fear. The fear of what others are thinking about us. Maybe you’re a bit of a people pleaser so you avoid saying no so you don’t hurt anyone’s feelings. Or you doubt yourself so you keep saying yes to prove yourself. But you just end up taking on extra work and burning out!
Learn why you should stop worrying about being "liked" by other people, why saying "yes" too much leads to missing out on the activities that really matter, and how saying yes to too many projects leads to regret and resentment.
